General Information
Located in the general Fresno area, Tolowa Dunes is a state park. The general habitat is wetlands and marsh area. There is a little bit of every type of terrain in the area. There are some forested hilltops for hikers who like to climb uphill and some beach areas for people who like to take in scenic views.

History
The name of the park refers to the Tolowa people who lived in the area prior to the 1850s. After the 1950s many European and North American settlers came to the area.
Settlers came from different places of the world. American settlers were moving west because of the Gold Rush and even the Russian settlers were coming to the area via Alaska.
