Trailhead Name: Iron Mountain
Distance: 82.81 km
Trailhead Description: The trailhead is located at the intersection of Poway Rd (HWY S4) and 67. The trail begins after crossing the foot bridge next to the restrooms. The hike to the top of the mountain is about 6.5 miles round trip (out and back). The trail is well maintained, but moderately strenuous unless you are in good shape. About 1000 feet elevation gain. The trail has almost no shade at all, so advised in summer months, it gets HOT. There is a guest book at the summit, as well as a couple benches to have your lunch or just take a rest. No water available.

Description: Moderately strenuous hike because the climbing is sustained and steep in some sections. There are many rocks and bumps along the trail. No shade and it gets HOT in the summer. View from the top is amazing, you can see all of San Diego, 360 degrees. Benches and a guest book at the top.
